Research Interests: 

Ms. Kalifi Ferretti-Gallon is a dedicated environmental researcher, policy analyst, and advocate. With over 10 years of experience in sustainability, she has worked on a wide range of issues, including water resources management, biodiversity preservation, national commitments to climate change mitigation, and drivers of and trends in global deforestation. Her current focus continues to be on global forest loss. Her recent MSc thesis examined contradicting trends in tropical deforestation datasets.

Ms. Kalifi Ferretti-Gallon presently working in UBC’s Department of Forestry, where she oversees research projects on forest sustainability at the Asia Pacific Forest Research Center. As Research Project Manager, she teaches forestry courses on campus and abroad, she helps facilitate research collaboration with partners in Latin America, and conduct tropical and temperate forest-related research.

Her work so far has been featured in the National Geographic, the Economist, and the Globe and Mail, with articles published in academic journals.
