We aim to promote best practices of national park establishment and management worldwide. To do this, we conduct research on existing systems in order to compare and evaluate what works best under given conditions. It is hoped that, through these projects, we can improve the management of existing national park systems, as well as help those countries who are working to introduce new systems.
Our network is wide-reaching, spanning experts in national park agencies worldwide in Australia, Canada, China, India, New Zealand, and the United States.
We look to be an international leader in national park research in order to:
- advance knowledge on national park management
- facilitate information-sharing between experienced countries and those new to park systems
- identify future trends and challenges to national parks
- influence strategic approaches to meet anticipated dynamics
